Internal Family Systems
Have you ever felt that part of you wants to go to this event but another part wants to stay in for a quiet evening? Or part of you is very excited and part of you is terrified? Ever been curious why anger or another defense mechanism shows up so strongly or quickly? We can explore and understand these types of things through IFS counseling.

What is
Internal Family Systems?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a transformative, evidence-based psychotherapy that views the mind as composed of multiple sub-personalities or “parts,” each with its own roles and emotions.
These parts often include coping strategies like people-pleasing, overthinking, emotional eating, or distraction. IFS helps you understand where these patterns began and why they show up, with what purpose. By getting to know your inner world with curiosity and compassion, you can create lasting change. This deep, consistent work often leads to profound personal transformation.

Healing through IFS
IFS therapy offers a path to deep emotional healing and self-understanding. By exploring your inner parts, you’ll learn which ones get activated and how they shape your reactions and relationships. This approach supports inner-child reparenting, fosters self-compassion, and empowers you to manage internal conflicts with clarity and care. Many find that IFS creates space for lasting healing, especially from unresolved trauma, by gently working with the parts that carry pain.
My own journey with IFS…
Internal Family Systems is the type of therapy that has provided the most impactful change and deepening into my self-awareness. Now I can tell when I am slipping into my people-pleasing habit, something I started as a young girl in hopes of keeping my family environment calm.
I can check in with my younger self to ensure that she does not feel alone. Through my work with internal family systems therapy, I can feel my emotions without fear they will overwhelm me and instead listen to the messages they are sending me.
